With the 2025 Diecast Model Expo now underway (19–21 September), it’s the perfect time to look back at the standout 1:18 cars and 1:50 trucks from the 2023 event and see how they’ve fared — before turning to this year’s new releases.
2023 Diecast Model Expo Releases
ACD18F18N - 2018 Coates Hire Ipswich SuperSprint - Will Davison - 23Red Racing - FGX Falcon
300 units produced by Authentic Collectables
With 10 sales to date, the Expo release has struggled in 2025, falling 19.1% YTD in new condition and 4.4% used. By contrast, the season car has held up far better — down just 1.4% new and 3% used — and continues to command higher prices despite similar sales volumes.
ACD18F15E - 2015 Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 - Simona De Silvestro / Renee Gracie - Prodrive Racing Australia / Harvey Norman Supergirls - FGX Falcon
402 units produced by Authentic Collectables
ACD18F15EB - 2015 Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 - Simona De Silvestro / Renee Gracie - Prodrive Racing Australia / Harvey Norman Supergirls - FGX Falcon - Satin Black
102 units produced by Authentic Collectables
The standard car sells far more frequently than the satin black edition — expected given its four-times larger production run. That rarity is driving the premium: the satin black currently sits 90% higher for new and 60% higher for used, with a 2.65% lift YTD. Meanwhile, the standard car has slipped an average of 6% across both conditions and now sits around 10% below its release price.
B18H17X - 2017 ZB Commodore Gen2 Development Car - Jamie Whincup / Shane van Gisbergen - Red Bull Racing
300 units produced by Biante
With just five sales recorded, this model hasn’t attracted strong interest, reflected in the Diecast Detective Price sitting about 5% below release. However, Triple Eight’s upcoming switch to Ford in 2026 — and a likely pre-season testing livery — could reignite demand.
18809 - 1980 Hardie-Ferodo 1000 - Allan Grice / John Smith - VC Commodore
400 units produced by Classic Carlectables
Down 5.8% YTD, but still 17.6% above release price. Demand has been strong — 15% of the total run has changed hands in just two years.
Z01618 - Kenworth T909 Director - Membrey's Transport 50th Birthday Livery (Satin Black)
300 units produced by Drake Collectibles
At launch it shot past $1,000, but prices have eased over the past two years — now around $800 new and $600 used. Still, it’s shown strong momentum with a 24% lift YTD. And with the W900 SAR Membrey’s release at this year’s Expo, activity is likely to pick up as collectors chase a complete satin black set.
Z01619 - Kenworth K200 "Phat Cab" - Doolan's Heavy Haulage (Satin Black)
300 units produced by Drake Collectibles
The Doolan’s Fat Cab mirrored the trajectory of the Membrey’s T909 Expo release — breaking $1,000 on debut before settling in the $600–$800 range. Late 2024 into early 2025 saw a surge back above $1,000, but recent sales have softened. YTD, it’s down 6%.
