20 June, 2015: On this day 10 years ago, Craig Lowndes etched his name into motorsport history by becoming the first driver to record 100 wins in the ATCC/Supercars Championship. The milestone came at Hidden Valley Raceway in Darwin during Race 16 of the 2015 season, where Lowndes dominated in his Red Bull Racing Australia VF Commodore to notch up the historic victory - nearly two decades after his first ATCC win at Eastern Creek for HRT in 1996.
To celebrate the achievement, Classic Carlectables released two special models: a twin set (18599) featuring the #888 VF Commodore from his 100th win, paired with a fantasy-liveried version listing each of his 100 victories across the car’s bodywork. They also produced a limited-edition gold variant of the Darwin-winning VF (18597).
Both models were originally released during Classic Carlectables’ unfortunate second “brick-era,” featuring sealed bodies and limited detail. In recent years, they've resurfaced on the market through unauthorised releases - lacking certificates of authenticity and full packaging. Thankfully, Biante has announced they’ll be releasing the race-liveried car, this time in full opening diecast, with delivery expected in the final quarter of this year.
Fantasy liveries and twin sets don’t typically hold strong long-term value, but these Lowndes 100th win editions have proven to be the exception. Thanks to Lowndes’ enduring status as a fan favourite, both models have significantly outperformed their original retail prices. The twin set, which launched at $355, now holds a Diecast Detective Price of around $370, while the gold VF, originally $175, has climbed to approximately $260.
