‘Kate,’ officially known as chassis 888A-023, has been sold by Jamie Whincup for an undisclosed amount. With 28 race wins, including the 2012 Bathurst 1000, and back-to-back Supercars championships in 2011 and 2012, this VE II Commodore was the most successful Supercars chassis in history. Its record stood until Shane van Gisbergen’s ZB Commodore (888A-054) surpassed it with 39 victories, including the 2020 and 2022 Bathurst 1000s, and consecutive titles in 2021-2022.
Jamie Whincup raced ‘Kate’ across three seasons (2010-2012), but briefly switched to a different chassis (888A-027) midway through 2010 before returning to ‘Kate’ at the start of 2011. This often-overlooked detail is important when examining Classic Carlectables’ range of ‘Kate’ models, which comprises a 2010 model which for the purpose of this article is assumed to be 'Kate'.
A total of 9 'Kate' models have been produced by Classic Carlectables excluding the 2012 Bathurst Winning 1-2 Twin Set but including Member editions.
